ATTENTION: When choosing shipping methods, it is advised that queen bees not be in the mail for more than 3 days. Please keep this in mind when choosing your shipment option. All queen shipments are made on Monday or Tuesday (unless specified) to avoid possibilities of being held over the weekend. They will be marked to be held at the post office with customer contact information.
Brett's Bees is proud to offer quality mated queens. Queens are packaged in a queen cage with several attendants and a candy plug. Queens are marked with the respective year marking.
If needing a queen ASAP, please reach out separately via call/text to alert us so we are able to process your order as quickly as possible. Queens are available while supplies last.
Factors Important for Queen Introduction:
- Know the queen status of the hive. Hives with virgin queens or queen cells will often kill introduced queens.
- Place the queen cage between frames, preferably between frames containing brood.
- Check carefully for queen cells and remove at the time of introduction.

If you are looking to start beekeeping, I highly suggest to join a local beekeeping group and take an Intro to Beekeeping course.
Though honey bees are for the most part self-sustaining, there are plenty of pests and diseases to keep an eye out for, the most common being Varroa Destructor Mites. Hives and Nucs within my apiary are treated with several mite treatments throughout the year including, Formic Acid, Apivar, and Oxalic Acid vaporization.
